Parkville, MO, Mayor Kathy Dusenbery and River Rock Coffee Co., café and bakery in downtown Parkville, welcome Ocean Springs, MS, Mayor Connie Moran for an informal presentation on Friday, June 16, 9:00am.
Ocean Springs was adopted by the City of Parkville and numerous additional Platte County citizens following 2005’s Hurricane Katrina that devastated the gulf port town of 18,000 residents. Several Parkville area volunteers made numerous trips to Ocean Springs,
bringing with them truckloads of relief supplies donated from communities and individuals throughout the Northland.
Moran and Dusenbery will lead a conversation and question session about the immediate effects of Hurricane Katrina on Ocean Springs, the resulting clean-up and the eventual rebuilding and redevelopment. River Rock Coffee Co., located in English Landing Center in downtown Parkville will host the event.
“Parkville’s thrilled to welcome Mayor Moran for a little rest and relaxation after what’s obviously been a difficult year for her and her city,” said Mayor Dusenbery. “We’re also all eager to hear about the progress that’s been made in Ocean Springs these past few months.”
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as seating is limited. There is no cost to attend, but monetary donations will be accepted on behalf of the ongoing clean-up and rebuilding effort in Ocean Springs.
